On sustainability, Barlow Tyrie sources only the finest grade plantation-grown teak (Tectona Grandis) in Indonesia, where responsible forest practices and supply is controlled by the government scheme of Forest Law Enforcement Governance and Trade (FLEGT), our license number is BRIK-VLK-0137. A legal supply of teak wood is assured through Indonesia’s national timber legality system, SVLK, a mandatory legality and sustainability certification system, and the FLEGT licensing scheme. The FLEGT license is evidence that a country manages its forests in accordance with approved forest management and environment practices, together with applicable labour and community welfare legislation. These licenses also provide evidence that products comply with legal export requirements and that required taxes and fees are paid.  FLEGT-licensed wood complies fully with EU Timber Regulation. Our customers, who sell our FLEGT-licensed furniture in the EU need not undertake any further due diligence. You can be confident that the wood we use in our furniture is sustainable, ethically grown and the finest teak available.
